<p>This article discusses the introduction by one cancer centre of oral chemotherapy agent capecitabine (or Xeloda*). Patients are able to administer this preparation to themselves at home. The author provides a largely descriptive account of the centre’s role in ensuring patients receiving oral chemotherapy are provided with the same high level of quality care, information and support from the specialist chemotherapy nursing team as those receiving conventional intravenous chemotherapy.</p>
