Obesity and surgical approaches to its treatment in the UK
<p>Overweight and obesity are now known to increase the risk of developing several cancers including breast, colon, oesophageal, endometrial (Bianchini 2002). Once cancer develops, overweight or obese individuals are at increased risk of recurrence and poorer survival (McTiernan 2005). In light of the increasing obesity problem in the UK, this article discusses surgical options available for those that are morbidly obese.</p>
