Setting up a chemotherapy service at home

<p>Over recent years it is recognised that the provision of chemotherapy administration has shifted from the inpatient setting to the outpatient setting and of latter years to the home setting (Carmigani and Raymond 1997). The driving force in the USA for the development of a community IV therapy service, including the administration of chemotherapy, was the desire to reduce costs of hospital inpatient episodes and for the patient to return to home, work and school (Kayley 1999). The author has worked at best practice in the field.</p>
