<p>All electrical burns are serious and, due to their complicated pathology, must never be underestimated and should receive prompt and effective management. Although the history and presenting symptoms of electrical burns may suggest a minor injury, trauma is often not limited to the skin and can involve considerable internal trauma to both skeletal and cardiac muscle, the renal system and nervous tissue (see Fig 1).</p>
