<p>THE ARRIVAL OF VICTIMS OF smoke inhalation in emergency departments presents those caring for them with a multiplicity of both poisoning and general medical problems. Initially, these may seem rather daunting, particularly as the patients may be seriously injured on arrival and may deteriorate rapidly. This article will highlight some of the major toxicological problems that can arise and give some advice on how these patients can best be managed.</p>
