IV cannulation: Principles and practice
<p>Traditionally, IV cannulation has been a medical skill simply passed on, often with little education or understanding of the underlying theoretical principles. However, in keeping with the UKCC Code of Professional Conduct (1) and the Scope of Professional Practice (2), nurses need to demonstrate sound knowledge to be fully accountable for their practice when undertaking such a role.</p>
