How to support people after traumatic events AND look after your well-being

Nurses working in the emergency department have had to develop new skills and knowledge in light of increased pressures. Staff’s immediate workload can be challenging, but they also have other caring roles to fulfil including support for people after traumatic events. Providing such support and often breaking bad news can have a toll on their own well-being. A modern and responsive NHS would allow nurses time and space away from clinical practice to reflect and raise concerns.
