Contemporary aspects of infant feeding
Early dietary influences, even before birth, can have an effect on growth, which in turn has a profound influence on adult health. Formula-fed infants have a different growth pattern from that of breast-fed babies and a greater risk of developing obesity. However, infant formulas, when correctly prepared and handled, are a safe alternative for mothers who do not wish to or are unable to breast feed.
