<p> Aim and intended learning outcomes </p> <p>The aim of this article is to educate nurses on advances in ileostomy care being made with the development of procedures such as the ileo-anal reservoir (perineal pouch) and the Kock continent ileostomy. Reference is also made to the neo-anal sphincter.</p>
