CAR T-cell therapy

This is a summary of the peer-reviewed article: Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy: an overview for nurses by Emma Thoms and Alison Simons.

The article provides an overview of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy, a novel immunotherapy for haematologic cancers – specifically relapsed or refractory acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). While it offers promising treatment outcomes, CAR T-cell therapy can induce significant physical and psychosocial side effects, including life-threatening acute toxicities. Nurses have a crucial role in the CAR T-cell therapy process, from patient decision-making support to post-treatment care
