<p>One in four women over the age of 60 and one in two women over the age of 70 has osteoporosis (NOS 1993). This condition may affect a person on many different levels. Their physical wellbeing, body image and ability to perform everyday activities are often altered. For such a potentially devastating condition an holistic approach - which helps patients to manage any aspect of their life affected by the condition - is essential (Quantock and Beynon 1994a).</p>
