Helping midwives in developing countries

<p>The author describes a World Health Organization backed educational initiative for midwives in developing countries. Following on from WHO’s safe motherhood initiative, the course is organised into eight modules. Initial pre-testing of the material in Botswana has given very encouraging results, and it is next to be tested in Asia.</p>
