<p>This article aims to provide healthcare professionals with the necessary knowledge and skills to assess, diagnose and treat acne vulgaris. The article discusses the epidemiology and pathogenesis of the condition and uses a case study to highlight common issues. It emphasises the importance of the four pathogenic factors in formulating a management plan for the patient with acne. Treatments are explored in a holistic approach to the nursing care of a patient with acne.</p>
