<p>A RECENT OVERVIEW of pupil howlers, collected by a headmaster and reported in a national newspaper (Walker 1999) revealed that one child believed that Queen Elizabeth I found it difficult to formulate policy with the ghost of Mary Queen of Scots hoovering in the background. Perhaps the governing body of the RCN and the membership at large have felt the same in relation to the activities of the RCN Research Society.</p>
