Clinical supervision: the Cartmel NDU experience

<p>Implementing clinical supervision is now seen as a critical element in the provision of safe and accountable practice. In 1994, Moores suggested that the time had never been more opportune for nurses to expand the ways in which they can respond to patient need, and ensure that standards of care reach the highest possible levels. The value of clinical supervision was also emphasised in the UKCC’s Scope of Professional Practice (1992) which allowed nurses the freedom to develop their skills in response to patient need. Clinical supervision offers a way of enabling practitioners to develop themselves to meet these demands.</p>
