<p> Aims and intended learning outcomes </p> <p>The aims of this article are to describe how body temperature is maintained within a range that enables a person to survive and how the body copes with extremes of environmental temperature. The mechanisms involved in adjusting body temperature regulation are also described and the clinical implications, including measurement of body temperature. Nursing care related to changes in body temperature is also discussed.
