Nurses recruited from overseas have long been essential to the NHS. Internationally educated nurses make up a significant proportion of the NHS workforce and with UK nursing student numbers in decline, demand for this expertise  remains strong. Yet tighter UK health and social care visa rules seem to have had a chilling effect on nurse immigration. Here, we look at what the numbers tell us, and nurses who moved to the UK offer tips on ensuring colleagues from overseas know they are valued.
