Gaps in staff training could have contributed to care home resident's death

A coroner found that nursing staff at Acorn Lodge Care Home may have lacked the clinical skills to save Ivy Dixon, who died after choking on her food in October 2024. Despite her cardiac arrest being potentially reversible, CPR was not performed. Miscommunication and inadequate emergency care training were key concerns. Lukka Care Homes must respond to the prevention of future deaths report by 4 June.
