ICU strike threat: trust’s redeployment plan could heighten burnout risk – union

NHS trust wants to rotate ICU nurses who work at Bassetlaw Hospital so they can gain experience of the more complex patients cared for at sister hospital Doncaster Royal Infirmary. But the union Unite claims nurses at Bassetlaw Hospital fear longer commutes to work would increase their risk of exhausation and burnout – in turn posing safety risks to patients. They worry too their unit will be closed ‘by stealth’. Talks continue in a bid to resolve the dispute.
