NHS managers agree to be regulated to restore public confidence after Letby case

NHS managers have agreed they should be subject to professional regulation to help restore public trust following the conviction of former neonatal nurse Lucy Letby. Proposals would prevent managers with a record of poor performance from working in healthcare, and hold them to account when they endanger patient safety. NHS Employers said there should be no fear of accountability and its members welcomed proposals for a new duty of candour.
