Struck off: nurse prescriber who tried to obtain testosterone replacement illegally
Nurse prescriber Aaron Carnahan has been struck off the Nursing and Midwifery Council register after trying to obtain a large quantity of a testosterone replacement drug. He wrote a prescription for a quantity of Sustanon (testosterone isocaproate) 50 times higher than the maximum monthly dose, for the sports nutrition business where he worked. He cited an expired credential on the prescription, which the NMC fitness to practise panel judged to be an attempt to give the prescription credibility. The nurse said he had not intended the drug to be dispensed. The panel noted his previously unblemished record but said Mr Carnahan had abused the trust placed in him as a nurse and lacked insight into his actions.
