Nursing associate job ad calls for ‘registered nurse’ ability
An NHS trust has drawn criticism over a job advert for a nursing associate whose duties would be ‘all tasks normally undertaken by an experienced registered nurse’, including assessing ambulance and walk-in patients in an emergency department. The trust removed the ad after nurses raised concerns on social media, with some suggesting that nursing associates were being used to replace registered nurses, posing risks to both patient safety and the registered nurse workforce, and reiterating calls for the title ‘nurse’ to be protected in law.
