Plan to close another nursing campus sparks further concern
Proposed closure of University of Wolverhampton’s Telford campus, which offers preregistration nursing degree courses, comes days after Cardiff University revealed plan to close its top-ranked nursing school. The move reflects growing financial pressure in the nursing education sector, and the RCN says it hopes nursing degree places at the university will be moved rather than lost. It says ‘we cannot afford for supply of new nurses to shrink, given persistent staffing shortages’. Scotland has also seen a fall in nursing student numbers.
