An inquest found lapses in regular observations and care after nursing student Zoe Bell died from sepsis, having waited 12 hours for assessment in the emergency department at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury in December 2022. Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust implemented improvements, including better observation protocols, increased staff levels and training on sepsis screening. The trust expressed condolences and committed to addressing the coroner’s recommendations.
