Top nursing school closure plan sparks alarm among students
Cardiff University’s highly ranked nursing school could close, raising fears about future nurse staffing in Wales’ NHS. The univeristy has begun a consultation on proposals that would mean the loss of its nursing degree programmes and related faculty jobs. Students say staffing pressures in Wales’ NHS would be exacerbated by any closure. Cardiff University said the plans aim to secure the institution’s long-term future but emphasised no final decision has been made. It said it is committed to degree programmes for current nursing students and those starting in 2025.
