This article discusses patient involvement in prison health care using an initiative developed and implemented at HM Prison Leeds. It explores the development of patient involvement in the NHS and increasing prisoner involvement in Her Majesty’s Prison Service in more general terms. It also reports on an evaluation of the prisoner patient involvement strategy at HM Prison Leeds and proposes a model of prison patient involvement dependent on trust, empowerment and awareness.
