Vaccinating preterm infants

This is a summary of the peer-reviewed article:  Vaccinating preterm infants: a timeliness study by Helen Sisson.

The article describes how vaccination is essential in preventing infectious diseases. It reports that, in England, there is a 95% vaccination uptake target for childhood immunisations, but that pre-pandemic data indicated a decline, which is concerning, especially for preterm infants who are at higher risk due to reduced immunity. Despite global recommendations for timely vaccination of preterm infants, studies suggest these infants often experience delays, particularly those born at the lowest gestational ages.
