Computer software can help users to make informed decisions
<p>This article assesses the Clicker 5 reading and writing software package to help people with learning disabilities and others achieve a better understanding of and participation in complex decisions that affect their lives. It is compared with the Talking Mats system, and two case studies demonstrate its use in potentially difficult situations. Ideas for further development include an internet resource, programs for non-English speakers and strategies to accommodate users who have sensory or motor impairments.</p>
