<p>People with learning disabilities have increased health problems compared with the general population but they often experience poor quality care in mainstream health services. Two north London boroughs worked in partnership with four acute hospitals to improve the health care of this population by appointing acute liaison nursing posts. This article demonstrates how learning disability nurses in this role can have a positive impact on the quality of care individuals receive.</p>
