Sexuality for people with learning disabilities and Alzheimer’s disease: the Ex-PLISSIT model

<p>People with learning disabilities have been marginalised as a result of majority social views, and their sexual needs and rights are commonly ignored by health and social care providers. Where sexuality has been recognised, healthcare providers have tended to adopt a protective or repressive approach, overlooking individual rights and the notion of pleasure (Gilbert 1998).</p>
