Supporting a person with autism through stressful personal care
<p>The author describes how as a community nurse, she used her assessment skills and knowledge to provide effective care for a woman who was refusing to have her toenails cut. With careful assessment, planning and intervention, the patient’s physical and mental health were maintained and her toenails cut, which enabled her to become mobile again.</p>
