Individuals with a personality disorder diagnosis experience high levels of stigma within society generally and healthcare services specifically. This narrative review analyses the recent literature exploring the stigma associated with personality disorders. The findings offer insights into the ongoing contentious nature of personality disorder as a diagnosis, the issues around misdiagnosis and the prevailing attitudes of healthcare professionals.
