Christine Walker
Editor
Christine is the co-editor of Mental Health Practice and has also been managing editor at Nursing Standard. She originally trained as a journalist and has worked for a variety of publications. Christine is also editor of Nursing Children and Young People and Learning Disability Practice, and a clinical editor specialising in nursing.

Emma Wadey
Consultant editor
Emma is the chief nursing officer at Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust and was formerly the national deputy director for mental health nursing at NHS England. She is a visiting professor at the University of Surrey.
She has more than 25 years’ extensive strategic and technical knowledge and experience across a wide range of health settings. Enthusiastic about the provision and transformation of effective and recovery-based mental health services, she has led the development of new and innovative services for the most vulnerable in society.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, she was the clinical lead for the national mental health response cell and technical adviser to the World Health Organization, providing expert clinical oversight.
Emma is committed to social justice and improving mental healthcare, especially for patients from marginalised groups, and is particularly skilled in the development of national policy and translating research into practice.
During her career she has specialised in the prevention of suicide and promotion of health and well-being for communities and healthcare staff, including the development of national suicide prevention toolkits and the implementation of professional nurse advocates in all healthcare settings.
Most recently, she has contributed to the International Council of Nurses’ guidelines on mental health nursing and is committed to increasing the visibility and impact of those working in mental health services.

Esmerdis has worked in publishing for 30 years, eight of them specialising in healthcare and medical knowledge across a variety of journals as a managing editor and publisher. At RCNi, he is the editor of Primary Health Care and managing editor of Nurse Researcher, and also provides commissioning support to Mental Health Practice and Nursing Management.
