The CPD article describes incivility in the workplace, which encompasses a broad spectrum of behaviours such as rudeness, disrespect and bullying, and which can manifest from individual actions to an organisational culture. Incivility in healthcare can adversely affect patient care, patient safety and staff performance, create a toxic workplace environment and lead to recruitment challenges, increased costs and damage to reputation for organisations
